Before we continue, let’s define the term “hat”. The pergola mansion is a special type of architecture that can be built in different forms. It is often a light and sometimes decorative building that is built in the middle of a garden or park as a place of recreation or shelter. It also has a conical dome or a roofed room for selling newspapers and food.
The story of Aali Qapoy mansion in Tabriz
The Aliaqapo mansion was built during the Qajar period by Najaf Qoli Khan, the son of Morteza Gholi Khan Danbali, and was called Aliaqapo.
Then, during the reign of Nasser al-Din Mirza, he was named Shams al-Amara, imitating the Shams al-Amara Palace in Tehran.
During the reign of Muzaffar al-Din Shah, general and major repairs were carried out in it, and behind it, that is, in the northern part of the Aliaqapo Garden, a shrine building was built. Haremkhaneh dormitory is one of the most famous and oldest dormitories and barracks in Tabriz. Begins.
The house of the shrine
The shrine dormitory has been the neighborhood of nobles and lords of Tabriz since ancient times, and scholars, elders, merchants and tribal leaders lived in this neighborhood.
Alia Ghapo Tabriz had three large entrance doors. The first door was for Qajar crown princes and government employees to enter, the second door was for the public to enter from the east, especially during Muharram and mourning ceremonies in the presence of the Crown Prince, and the third door was for the royal shrine and the Crown Prince’s family. Once upon a time, nearly a hundred years ago, the shrine dormitory was the best and most interesting place for the people of Tabriz to travel and spend their leisure time, and it was considered the hangout of some of the city’s intellectuals.
After the extinction of the Qajar dynasty, the High Qapoy complex of Tabriz became the seat of the governor and governor of Azerbaijan.
The process of demolition of Aali Qapo mansion
In 1312 AD, during the governorship of Adib al-Saltanah Samiei, a fire broke out in this palace and its dome and upper part, which was considered a masterpiece of Zandieh and Qajar period architecture, were destroyed. It is said that even Adib al-Saltanah was slandered for doing so deliberately out of hatred for the Qajar government.
The next day, they composed a sad song and composition to this effect:
Alinda Laleh Gatmeh Khayaleh / August Tutub Janub Shams al-Amara.
This song was spoken by the common people for many years, and the governor, Adib al-Saltanah, was slandered for doing so.
In this incident, its rich, valuable and irreplaceable library was reduced to ashes. A year later, a massive flood destroyed part of the building. The palace was badly damaged and part of its arches collapsed.
Eventually, the rest of the mansion and the mirrored and painted rooms of Aali Qapoy in Tabriz were completely destroyed in 1326 during the governorship of Ali Mansour, and a new governorate building was built in its place, which was completed in 1333. During this time, all the tall, old and unique trees of Aliaqapo were cut down during the reconstruction.
Ali Mansour, like Adib al-Saltanah Samiei, was blamed for destroying a beautiful historical monument. Some scholars believe that Aliaqapo built Isfahan from the map of Aliaqapo mansion in Tabriz; Because this mansion already existed during the reign of Shah Abbas I.
Later, in the western part of Aali Qapo or today’s governorate, the building of the central branch of Bank Melli Iran was built. In 1348, the shrine building in the northeast of the governorate was demolished and the current governorate building was built.
East Azerbaijan Governor’s Palace
The current governor’s mansion in Shohada Square has become one of the ancient symbols of Tabriz due to the fact that more than eight decades have passed since its construction. It is built exactly on the magnificent palace of Tabriz.
When we enter through the main door of this building, we see a large courtyard and a very pleasant green space. After that, we see the gifts in the building of the Museum of Gifts; A museum containing gifts donated by ambassadors and ministers of different countries to various governors of the region. This section was changed to this museum during the governorship of Governor Beigi.
The walls of this historic mansion have many secrets; Because it has witnessed the occurrence of various events in the region of Azerbaijan, especially since the 3rd of Shahrivar 1320 AD.
The East Azerbaijan Governor’s Office has several rooms, two of which are of special importance due to hosting domestic and foreign delegations to meet with the first person in the decision-making area of the province. One of the interesting points about the history of this historical building is the governor’s desk, which has seen many figures over the years.
