The Taliban embargo has been extended – Online Economy

According to the online economy report, quoted by Tasnim, the United Nations Security Council has extended the mission of the sanctions monitoring team against the Taliban and institutions that threaten the peace and security of Afghanistan for another year.

This council has unanimously approved the resolution of 15 members to continue the 1988 sanctions against the Taliban, based on which the ruling body of Afghanistan will remain under UN sanctions for another year.

According to this resolution, companies and institutions related and affiliated with the Taliban are also subject to this sanction. According to the new Security Council resolution, the monitoring team must collect information on non-compliance with measures that include freezing funds and assets, preventing travel and supplying or transferring weapons.

This council also approved the resolution “International terrorism and Afghanistan”. According to this council, Afghanistan under Taliban rule is a threat to international peace and security.

Recently, the US Treasury Ministry had sanctioned Mohammad Khaled Hanafi, the Minister of Good and Prohibition of Evil, and Fariduddin Mahmoud, the head of the Taliban Academy of Sciences, for what he called human rights violations.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Taliban, said in response to these sanctions: While America itself is one of the biggest violators of human rights due to its support for Israel, accusing others of violating human rights and then imposing sanctions on them is unjustifiable and irrational.
