The Taliban movement (banned terrorist group in Russia) is taking steps to completely eliminate members of the terrorist group ISIS (banned in Russia) in Afghanistan.

According to Sputnik, this was announced by Zabihullah Mujahid, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of the Provisional Government of Afghanistan on Friday.

According to him, the number of ISIS members in Afghanistan is small because in recent years, their presence in areas such as Jalalabad and Kabul has been successful. A Taliban spokesman assured that operational and intelligence programs were being actively carried out in his country against ISIL, as a result of which members of the terrorist group were arrested and brought to justice.

The Taliban intensified their attacks on Afghan government forces in early August, entered Kabul on August 15 and announced the next day that the 20-year war in the country was over. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has announced his intention to “prevent killings”. On the night of August 31, the US military left Kabul Airport, ending a 20-year US military presence in Afghanistan. On September 6, the Taliban announced that Panjshir, the last of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, was under their control. The next day, the composition of the Afghan interim government was announced. It is headed by Mohammad Hassan Akhund, who was foreign minister during the first Taliban regime (1996-2001) and is subject to UN sanctions.
