Technical Specifications

The XU7 engine, or the same engine known as the Peugeot engine in Iran, has been in Iran Khodro’s production line for many years, and for this reason, its parts can be easily found everywhere in the country.

But the reason for introducing the Optimum or Plus engine by Iran Khodro was the presence of a major defect, i.e. high sensitivity to water temperature in the XU7 engine. This defect is due to the lack of a water channel around the cylinder bushings and the direct connection of the cylinder head gasket with the water inside the engine.

This relationship gradually causes the cylinder head gasket to rot, and after a while, it burns with the slightest irritation, such as the late operation of the fans, and leaves a huge expense on the driver’s hand.

But according to Iran Khodro, this problem has been completely solved in the Optimum or Plus engine and the engine has experienced many improvements.

• The idling speed of the engine has been reduced by about 150 rpm compared to XU7, which reduces fuel consumption, reduces emissions and reduces depreciation in the XUP engine.
• The cylinder head gasket of the new engine is similar to the dual-fuel XU7 engine, which has a higher quality.
• Due to the operation at lower speeds, the sound transmitted to the cabin is less than the previous version.
• One of the faults that can be found in this engine is the declaration of engine oil with a viscosity level of 0W20. The reason for this problem is the lack of domestic production of this oil and the high cost of foreign samples. Of course, with the mass production of this car, oil manufacturers will be forced to produce engine oil with this grade.
• If oil with different viscosity is used in this engine, the sound of the engine will be annoyingly high and the useful life of the engine will be reduced.
• Another drawback that can be taken with the XUP is that this 1.8-liter engine has 8 valves, considering its newer release date. Because today, most cars are equipped with at least 16-valve engines.

Appearance design

In the appearance part of this type, we don’t see much change compared to Pejuparsi, which was first introduced in 2010. The only change of this model with the previous year’s models is the removal of the guides on the front fenders and the new design hoods.

The cabin part of this car is the same design that was placed on all Peugeot models since 2013. Cream-colored trim with wood design on the dashboard and on the doors, which is not of very good quality.

Options and features

Peugeot XUP does not have much to say in the option section and the features installed on it are limited to ABS and EBD braking system, driver and passenger airbags, control keys on the steering wheel, reverse gear sensor and rear tinted glass.

Driving experience

This car, like the XU7 engine, creates good torque at low revs, and for this reason, it has good initial acceleration at low revs.

The brake system has been significantly improved compared to the normal Pars Motor, but still the lack of stability control system is one of the weak points of this car.

According to the opinion of the owners of this car, the sound that penetrates into the cabin after some time of driving is annoying and the reason for this is the poor insulation of the car and the higher sound of the engine due to its design.
