Amazon is making a series based on the game “Tomb Raider”.
Charso Press: According to CNET, the TV series “Tomb Raider” written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge is being produced by Amazon.
Philly Wallerbridge, creator of the acclaimed Fleabag series, is writing a TV series adaptation of Tomb Raider, bringing Lara Croft to the small screen.
Lara Croft will be seen in her next adventure through a contract for the Amazon Prime online service in the form of a TV series.
Amazon is said to have signed a deal with Phoebe Waller-Bridge as both writer and executive producer to bring the popular Tomb Raider game series into this new format.
While 3 movies have been made based on these games, the actors of this series have not been mentioned yet.
Tomb Raider video games have been around since the 1990s, and Angelina Jolie was the first actress to appear in front of the camera in the 2001 film adaptation. Its sequel titled “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – Cradle of Life” was released 2 years later, and finally Alicia Vikander brought this character to the big screen again in 2018.
Phoebe Wallerbridge recently signed a long-term contract with Amazon and is going to produce the dark comedy series “Sign Here” for the company. At the 2019 Emmy ceremony, he received three Emmy awards for best lead actor in a comedy, best writer, as well as creator of the series “Flybag” and was one of the writers of the script for “No Time to Die”, the last film in the James Bond series.
Meanwhile, it has been said that the new game “Tomb Raider” will be released in 2023.
