The UN Security Council extended the sanctions against Mali

According to IRNA from Xinhua news agency, the UN Security Council on Tuesday evening (local time) extended the travel ban and freezing of assets imposed on individuals and institutions that hinder the implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali until 9 September 1402.
In addition, by unanimously approving Resolution 2649, the Security Council extended the mandate of the 15-member council as well as the commission of experts to supervise the implementation of sanctions until October 8, 1402.
Last week, during his visit to Mali, Iran’s Foreign Minister stated that experience has shown that the policy of sanctions against nations has not been successful, and said: We do not consider the sanctions imposed against the country of Mali to be constructive.
Amir Abdollahian stated: The interference of some countries in the internal financial affairs and support of terrorist groups has only complicated the security situation in the region and causes instability in the country of Mali.
