The UN Security Council welcomed the extension of the ceasefire in Yemen

In a statement on Thursday local time, the members of the UN Security Council called on the parties to use this moment to immediately expand negotiations to reach a comprehensive and comprehensive agreement on the proposal of a comprehensive ceasefire by the UN special envoy.

The members of the Security Council added: This proposal can turn into a lasting ceasefire and benefit the Yemeni people by increasing their rights and freedom of movement.

The members of the Security Council expressed hope that the full implementation of the ceasefire and the comprehensive ceasefire agreement will provide an opportunity to achieve a comprehensive and comprehensive political solution, based on the agreed principles and under the supervision of the United Nations.

They emphasized the importance of the participation of at least 30% of women and expressed their concern about the lack of progress in reopening the roads of Taiz, in accordance with the recent proposals of the United Nations.

The members of the Security Council also emphasized that the reopening of these roads is a humanitarian necessity to reduce hardships in the third largest city of Yemen.

Without referring to the other parties and their actions in violation of the ceasefire, the members of the Security Council asked Ansarullah to be flexible in the negotiations and open the main roads immediately.

Security Council members asked all sides to prioritize the needs of the Yemeni people and compromise and choose peace instead of violence.

They condemned all attacks that threaten the ceasefire and expressed concern over the increase in civilian casualties due to mine explosions.

According to IRNA, Hans Grundberg, the UN special representative for Yemen affairs, announced on Tuesday local time that the parties in this country have agreed to extend the ceasefire by two months based on similar conditions. The extension includes a commitment to intensify negotiations to reach a broader agreement as soon as possible.

In the statement of Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Representative for Yemen Affairs, it is stated: the proposal of a comprehensive ceasefire, reaching an agreement on a transparent and effective payment mechanism for the regular payment of employee salaries and civilian pensions, opening the roads in Taiz and other provinces provides more flight routes from Mobd to Sana’a International Airport.

He clarified: This ceasefire also provides fuel and the regular flow of fuel to Hodeidah ports. A broader agreement would also provide an opportunity to negotiate a nationwide ceasefire, humanitarian and economic issues, and prepare for the resumption of a UN-led Yemeni political process aimed at achieving a lasting and just peace.

The UN Special Representative for Yemen continued: The main goal of the current ceasefire is to provide concrete assistance to civilians and create a favorable environment for achieving a peaceful solution to the conflict through a comprehensive political process.

At the suggestion of the United Nations, a ceasefire has been established in Yemen since April 2 (April 13), the most important of which was the arrival of 18 fuel-carrying ships at Hodeidah ports and the permission of two weekly round-trip flights from Sana’a airport.

Despite repeated violations of this ceasefire by the Saudi coalition, Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Affairs, announced on June 12 the two-month extension of the ceasefire in Yemen and without referring to the party violating the ceasefire in Yemen, he said that reports of violations It has received fire from the sides of the conflict.

On July 15, the representatives of the conflicting parties, members of the Military Coordination Committee in Yemen, agreed to renew their commitment to stop all military operations and activities inside and outside of Yemen and to extend the current ceasefire.

Organizations affiliated to the United Nations, including the World Health Organization and UNICEF, have repeatedly warned that due to the continued attacks of the aggressors on Yemen, the people of this country are facing a famine and a humanitarian disaster that is unprecedented in the last century.
