The UNICEF representative met with the CEO of Farabi and cooperated for the development of children’s cinema

According to Fars news agency, quoting the public relations of Farabi Cinema Foundation, Farabi’s managing director stated that Iran is one of the leading countries in the field of children’s rights, and said: One of Farabi’s missions regarding the five-year vision document is the revival of children’s and youth cinema. Below that, we have put the desired productions in the field of children’s and youth cinema and the creation of the national club of children’s and youth cinema on our agenda.
The director of the 35th International Film Festival for Children and Adolescents stated: This year, when we were reviewing the conditions and requirements of holding the International Film Festival for Children and Adolescents, we became more determined not to sacrifice the quality of children’s productions for the timing of the festival. It is important to hold the festival and the quality of the works in the festival, of course, with the spread of the corona virus, the productions in the field of children and teenagers became thinner.
Javadi continued: For UNICEF to play a secondary role and to be present only as an honoree and awardee at the International Film Festival for Children and Adolescents is a minimal matter, therefore, we are eager to UNICEF from the beginning of the path and during the formation of cinematographic works with Producers of works to be accompanied.
Referring to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the CEO of the Farabi Cinema Foundation emphasized that Iran’s rights are leading in the field of child protection and continued: these advantages of the Islamic Republic of Iran should also be reflected in children’s and teenagers’ cinematographic works.
At the end of his speech, he welcomed the holding of joint events and workshops and proposed the creation of a joint working group with UNICEF.
In this meeting, UNICEF representative in Iran, Robin Nandi, apart from emphasizing the cooperation around the international film festival for children and teenagers, also emphasized the bilateral cooperation with the Farabi Cinema Foundation throughout the year and said: We have a five-year plan that, after completion, It also includes joint and annual workshops.
He also praised the movie “Without Appointment” and the performance of its child actor. In a part of this meeting, Vahid Hedayati, UNICEF’s director of child protection, emphasized the need for training for all cinematographers, such as for judges, lawyers, social workers, etc.
While welcoming the ideas presented in this meeting, Mehtab Karamati, the goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, said: Considering the positive approach and commonalities obtained from this meeting, it is hoped that the cooperation between Farabi and UNICEF will continue in a wider way.
Dr. Raed Faridzadeh, Vice President of International Affairs and Development of Foreign Markets of Farabi, also stated: Considering the position and function of UNICEF, this kind of cooperation should not be focused only on the festival, therefore, it should be done more with mutual thinking and the formation of a working group to determine the capacities of both institutions. used.
