The United States has imposed sanctions on six Nicaraguan officials

According to Reuters, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a statement that the United States, in coordination with the international community, would continue to denounce the continued abuses of the Ortega-Morillo government and use diplomatic and economic means to support the restoration of democracy and respect for Will use human rights in Nicaragua.

Blinken added that the State Department is also taking steps to impose visa restrictions on 116 people accused of undermining democracy in Nicaragua.

The US Treasury Department said in a separate statement that it had sanctioned six Nicaraguan officials on charges of government violence, misinformation and targeting independent media.

Cruel sanctions targeted the Secretary of Defense, as well as military officials, the Telecommunications and Postal Services Authority, and the Nicaraguan State Mining Company.

Daniel Ortega won the presidency for the fifth time (and fourth consecutive term) after winning the November 7th general election with 75.92 percent of the vote, out of about 97 percent.

The US government, addicted to unilateral sanctions against other countries, has threatened to impose new sanctions on Managua, along with its international allies, in response to the outcome of the Nicaraguan election and the continuation of its anti-Washington policy.

Russia, Bolivia, Venezuela and Cuba, meanwhile, have strongly criticized the US and other countries’ demands for non-recognition of Nicaragua’s free elections.
