The United States is resorting to laser weapons for fear of Iranian missiles and drones

According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, a US commander said on Friday that laser weapons would be used in West Asia to increase the risk of missile and drone strikes against Centcom terrorists.

According to the news agency «Sputnik“The missile defense force, cruise missiles and Iranian drones, and their deployment throughout the region is on the rise,” said Charles Cooper, commander of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet and a senior Centcom terrorist official.

“There has been a significant increase in drone activity in the region, which varies considerably,” he said.

Cooper added that to this end, the Fifth Fleet is developing the use of lasers and energy-carrying weapons focused on warships stationed in the area, and no details are to be released.

Last week, Cooper and Nayef Fallah Mubarak al-Hijraf, secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, held a virtual meeting. Al-Hijraf stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of maritime security and the strategic partnership between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United States.

According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, the two sides also discussed areas of joint cooperation, the importance of strengthening waterway security, ensuring the freedom and safety of navigation in the Persian Gulf region.

US forces have deployed warships and warplanes in the region under the pretext of protecting their partners in the region.

Prior to Cooper’s remarks, US military officials said in December that the US Navy had tested a powerful laser weapon in the Gulf of Aden.

The US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain said in a statement that the laser weapon had succeeded in “successfully” destroying the intended target. USS Portland had already destroyed a flying drone in May 2020 using the same weapon. (More details)

In addition to the United States, the Bahraini regime is cooperating with the Zionist regime in this regard. The Haaretz newspaper reported this October that Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid had discussed the confrontation with Iranian drones during a visit to Bahrain.
