The United States will become a major importer of oil this year

The US Energy Information Agency announced last night: “Increasing oil imports by the US will make the company an oil-only importer like in 2021.” In 2020, the United States was one of the largest oil exporters in the world.

In fact, this year the import of oil and petroleum products to the United States will exceed the export of these products.

To be precise, it was in September 2019 that the United States exceeded its oil exports and became an oil exporter for the first time since 1973.

The reason that 2020 was also good for the US oil industry is that due to the outbreak of the Corona virus, the demand for oil in the world market fell, and consequently we saw a sharp drop in the price of this energy carrier in the market. As a result, oil-exporting countries have not been very active in the market, and the United States has been able to market as much oil as it can.

In 2020, however, the gap between US oil exports and imports narrowed to a 35-year low, according to the Energy Information Agency. In 2021, however, US oil imports grew by 19%, rising by an average of 3.2 million barrels per day.
