The unveiling of Surface Pro 9 with 5G support and a processor based on Microsoft’s SQ3 logo


Microsoft In the past hours, it has unveiled new versions of Surface Pro 9 products with interesting features and the use of Intel and Microsoft SQ3 processor configurations based on Logo. The standard versions of Surface Pro 9 use 12th generation Intel U series processors, which include Core i5-1235U, Core i7-1255U, i5-1245U and i7-1265U, and the last two CPU models are intended for commercial versions.

Meanwhile, Surface Pro 9 5G uses the Microsoft SQ3 processor based on ARM architecture with support for neural processing unit based on Qualcomm’s final design. Microsoft has also confirmed that it has combined the Surface Pro X product line with the Pro version by presenting the new Surface generation. A Microsoft spokesperson acknowledged in an email that they are simplifying the Surface Pro 9 product line based on personalized features such as the device’s performance capabilities and connectivity features.

Microsoft has also stated that with the evolution of the Pro series of products, it is looking to provide surfaces with more choices for its customers, and in this regard, it intends to make this process easier. In the past, Microsoft introduced a number of features that customers needed with the Surface Pro X, and since these two series of devices ended up having similar features, it seems logical to merge them.

However, on paper, the Intel version of these products seems more powerful, and in addition, Windows shows less compatibility problems using x86 chips. The new Surface Pro 9 supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, while the 5G version comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The Surface Pro 9 Intel version comes with 1TB of storage, while the ARM version is available with a maximum storage of 512GB.

The downside, however, is that the first of these products comes with a 128GB SSD, but Microsoft has acknowledged that these drives are replaceable and can be done by an authorized Microsoft technician.

Despite the fact that both product series use the PixelSense touch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 2880 and support for a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, the Intel version supports features such as Dolby Vision IQ and automatic color management of this series compared to other models. At least on paper it shows the lead.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with Intel processor support will also use two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a dedicated Surface Connect port. On the other hand, Surface Pro 9 5G uses USB-C 3.2 and a Nano SIM slot has also been added to it. However, only the ARM version comes with 5G, LTE, NanoSIM and eSIM support.

The new Surface Pros are set to launch on October 25, and the Intel-powered lineup will be available starting at $999 for the 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and Core I5 ​​processor configuration. The most expensive model is $2,599 for the Intel version. The 5G model, with the Microsoft SQ3 processor and similar specifications, will start at $1,299.
