In fact, this achievement was achieved thanks to the installation of two battery packs with a thickness of 110 mm in the floor of the car. MG says that it can build different types of cars and vans with a length between two axles of 2,650 to 3,100 mm on this platform.

In other words, this platform can be used to produce family hatchbacks to large-size SUVs. Another advantage of this platform is the possibility of installing a very thin battery pack with a capacity between 40 and 150 kWh.

For the carMG 4, the company will offer two different battery packs. The basic model of the car uses a 51 kWh battery pack and its traveling capacity is about 350 km according to the WLTP cycle. But the company will also launch a version with a battery capacity of 64 kWh and a range of 450 km.

In the base model, the car’s single electric motor produces about 165 horsepower. The more powerful model of this car also uses a 200 horsepower engine and has zero to hundred in less than 8 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is limited to 160 km/h.

New products designed on the platform

MG has already said that the MSP platform will support dual-motor all-wheel drive engines, and a two-wheel-drive version of the MG4 will be designed and produced later. The company has not yet said anything about the car’s charging specifications, but the MSP platform is currently a 400-volt architecture, and in the future it is possible to upgrade it to an 800-volt system with faster charging support.
