The US House of Representatives passes the competition bill with China at the same time as the Beijing Winter Olympics

A majority in the US House of Representatives supported a competition law that would expand high-tech research and production to counter Chinese influence.

The US House of Representatives passed the bill with 222 votes in favor, and the bill is now being sent to the Senate for consideration.

The bill will be sent to US President Joe Biden for signature once it is approved by both houses.

The bill subsidizes $ 52 billion in manufacturing and research on electronic chips and $ 45 billion in reducing supply chain problems. These problems have led to a shortage of key components used in cars and computers.

The bill also allocates $ 8 billion to the Green Climate Fund as part of the Paris Agreement to help developing countries cope with climate change. This part of the bill was opposed by Republicans in the House of Representatives. They believe Beijing can use climate law to its advantage.
Democrats in the US House of Representatives have said Republicans have refused to work with them on the bill.

The United States has reportedly put pressure on Chinese tech giants in the past, but Beijing is working to strengthen its domestic electronics chip industry, which is a critical component of consumer electronics.

The more smart devices connected to the Internet, the more they are needed, which is why China wants to be a strong player in this field.

The US-China trade war and Washington’s reliance on the supply chain have revealed the complexity of the chain.

Washington had previously required foreign manufacturers to obtain a license to sell electronic chips to Huawei.
