This incident happened after Iran seized a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker named Advantage Sweet in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday.

Maritime security firm Ambrey has also said it believes the seizure of Advantage Sweet was in response to the US’s recent seizure of an oil cargo on a Suez tanker.

At noon on Wednesday, the media reported about the seizure of a ship from the oil tanker “Newway” by the IRGC in the Strait of Hormuz. Based on this, the Tehran prosecutor announced that the Navy ship was impounded by the IRGC Navy following the complaint of the plaintiff and the order of the judicial authority. This oil tanker, which was traveling through the Strait of Hormuz with the flag of Panama, has been seized.
