The WTO sided with China in the dispute with the United States

According to a reporter of Fars News Agency’s International Economics Group, quoted by راشاتودیThe World Trade Organization (WTO) has allowed China to impose tariffs on $ 645 million a year in imports from the United States in violation of US trade rules.

The World Trade Organization says the United States has not complied with international trade laws.

The dispute between China and the United States has lasted for about 10 years, and the United States has imposed tariffs on imports from China under the pretext of countering government subsidies for the production of goods in China.

The dispute between the two countries dates back to 2012, when Beijing left the United States to impose tariffs on 22 Chinese products, including paper, solar panels and steel wires.

China initially demanded $ 2.4 billion in tariffs on US goods, but eventually offered $ 788 million.

Gao Feng, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Commerce, said the country was urging the United States to stop making excuses and quickly correct its wrongdoing against China.

This is the second time the WTO has allowed China to counter US anti-dumping measures. In 2019, a WTO review panel allowed China to impose tariffs on $ 3.5 billion worth of US imports.

Under the previous president, the US government imposed tariffs on $ 300 billion worth of goods imported from China, a significant portion of which are said to remain in place.
