The young Royan researcher won the International Cryobiology Award

According to reports IRNA Science and Education Group From the Royan Research Institute Public Relations, this award is given annually by the World Cryobiology Association to researchers under the age of 45. In the field of bio-freezing (Cryobiology) are awarded who are effective in the development of this science in their own country.
Ruhollah Fathi is an associate professor in the embryology department of the Royan Institute, which works in two areas: egg freezing and ovarian tissue engineering.
The International Award of the Cryobiology Society was established in 2019, the fourth edition of which will be held in 2022 in the capital of Southern Ireland in July (July-August).
The award was given in 2019 to a researcher from Brazil, in 2020 to a researcher from Pakistan and in 2021 to a Portuguese.
Ruhollah Fathi, a member of the faculty of the Royan Jihad-e-Daneshgahi Research Institute, said about this success: “I am very happy that this year this award is once again dedicated to the Islamic world and the Middle East region.”
Cryobiology is the science of how to store living matter and living cells at low temperatures. Long-term preservation of stem cells, sex cells (sperm and eggs), multicellular embryos, or ovarian and testicular tissues are some of the uses of this science in the treatment of infertility. The umbilical cord blood stem cell bank is another example of the use of low temperatures in the long-term storage of these very valuable cells.
Royan Research Institute is currently using the latest cryopreservation methods in the storage of biological samples, and many of these methods have been created or developed in the laboratory.
