Theater and cinema are not parks!

Azadeh Samadi is one of the actors who has a prominent presence in theater, cinema and television. Emphasizing the important role of theater, cinema and music in culture formation, he says that theater and cinema are not parks that only have an entertainment aspect and with their closure, only people’s entertainment is limited.
Charso Press: He also says that contrary to what many people think, actors face a lot of problems and don’t have dream lives, but an actor like him prefers to work instead of whining because whining doesn’t get anything done.
These days, Samadi is acting in the play “Alande Nazanin” directed by Mohammad Brahmani in Chaharso Hall of the City Theater Complex.
While acting in this show, he talks about the important place of theater in his professional life and about the state of this art in the situation where Corona has subsided to some extent.
Samadi’s artistic career shows that theater is always important to him. He says that he misses being away from the stage and that’s why he tries not to leave a long gap between his works.
He, who has the experience of working with different directors, explains about his first collaboration with Mohammad Brahmani in the show “Alande Nazanin”: “Basically, I want to be in the theater and I don’t like to stay away from the stage for a long time. I find it interesting to work with people whose work I have seen and liked. I liked Mr. Brahmani’s previous works and I found the play “Alande Nazanin” interesting and accepted the offer to act in this play.
Unlike some actors whose activities in visual works do not allow him to have a strong presence in the theater, Samadi has shown that theater is very serious for him and he says about the important place of this artistic medium in his artistic activity: “I miss the theater a lot and working in I have a very good feeling. I listen to my heart a lot and I don’t want to stay too far from the theater. Being in this area is my concern and I enjoy being there. If an attractive job and role is offered, sometimes I may prefer the theater to the picture. Of course, in any case, a good role in any medium is tempting for me, and I usually compare the roles, not the mediums.
He says about margins such as high production costs or strictness in accepting works that sometimes make it difficult for theater artists and cause them not to enjoy it much despite their passion for attending the theater, he says: It is hard to work in any medium. . We are living hard and working hard. Of course, it is more difficult in the theater, because the effort that goes into it does not bring much from the economic point of view, and this makes the problem more difficult from the point of view of livelihood and psychologically.
Samadi talks about the difficulties of artistic careers and continues: We don’t have very easy lives. Contrary to what many people think that actors live in prosperity and peace, it is not really so and we struggle with many issues. As a result of hardship, it has become an integral part of our life and maybe our skin has become thicker. Because we have no choice. Grumbling that does nothing. We have to adapt to these conditions. »
In response to this saying that he is not one to grumble, he explains: “If grumbling solves a problem, I would really like to sit and grumble from morning to night and do nothing.” But will anything be solved?! So complaining is not the solution.”
“Alande Nazanin” show, like Mohammad Brahmani’s previous show “Life in the Theater”, is about the activists of this art.
Samadi says about the charms of acting in a show that is about a theater group: the fact that we are talking about the category of theater production in this show has its own charm. Because we have an aristocracy and knowledge about it that the general audience may not be aware of. Therefore, such shows can be interesting both for the audience and for people like me, for whom production and performance are an important part of our lives.
In response to the question that maybe by watching this show, some of the misconceptions that the audience have about the lives of artists will be removed and they will be aware of the hardships and cruelties of artistic work, he says: . Maybe the atmosphere behind the stage of the theater or cinema is attractive to the audience, but the important thing is that everyone looks at the story from their own point of view. I can’t just say I accepted it because it was about a performance group. Although these are among the attractions of the work, what the audience wants to see is up to their choice.”
During Corona, a part of the theater community was worried about the future of this art, which is always dependent on human society. They thought that the theater might reach the bottom of the line. However, now that the corona virus has subsided to some extent, “Alande Nazanin” is among the shows that have been welcomed by the audience.
Samadi explains about the worries that existed for the theater at that time: At that time, it was a painful thought for me to think that there would be no more theaters, and I could not believe that there would be no more human colonies. Experience has shown that people gather for any reason. When these gatherings can happen, then the theater can continue to exist in any form. During the peak period of Corona, it was unbelievable for me to think that it was not a theater. Unless I thought that the world has become different and humans are supposed to live in complete isolation and isolated environment, which of course I could not imagine the world in this way. When there were and are gatherings, why should the theater be removed? Maybe there will be a temporary shutdown, but after that, we should probably go back to normal life because people are not yet psychologically ready for this isolation.
He, who has been against the closure of cultural activities in part of the Corona era and in the conditions where other activities were going on, continues: Now we don’t have Corona as strongly as before. People have resumed their normal life and culture is part of this life. When we can have other gatherings, why do we focus on the cultural sector first of all? When life is going on normally, why should we close theaters, cinemas and music concerts first of all? Anyway, this is a disease and more care should be taken. There was a time when the theater, concert and cinema had to be closed when the society was in quarantine.
Samadi points out: “Anything that happens in our society, the first place that is under pressure is the category of culture, which is more vulnerable than the rest of the sectors and apparently they are less interested in it. The problem is that they don’t pay attention to the cultural sector and consider theater, cinema and music as entertainment and think that people don’t need much entertainment. Therefore, the first thing we close down is entertainment, while theater and cinema are not parks that only have an entertainment aspect to be closed as an entertainment, but these are mediums for cultural creation, of which entertainment is only a part.
The play “Alande Nazanin” written by Mohammad Sadegh Arefi Golchin and the work of Mohammad Brahmani is on stage every night at 19:30 in the Chaharso Hall of the City Theater Complex.
Ismail Gerji, Alireza Thanifar, Ali Mahmoudi, Sohail Soheili Sarasht, Donya Nasr, Siamak Akhan are other actors of this show.
