These 8 people don’t want their paintings to be buried!

Charso Press: “Dafak” is the name of the documentary that is being shown at the documentary film festival these days, and it means a colored cloth that was used to hunt mountain partridges. The film is a story of a family whose eight members, from parents to children, draw without any professional training, and by the way, their works are in a modern style. The main problem here is that this family does not have the possibility to set up an exhibition and they keep their several thousand paintings in the basement of their house, on the wall or in a binder.

Now this family is the subject of a film called “Defak” directed by Behnam Birmvand and he explained in an interview: I met this family through one of my filmmaker friends (Khalil Reshnavi) and they were very interested in making a film about what happened in their lives. It is being built. I spent two months with them to make the film, and the filming was done in 15 days in Dezful, Tehran and a part of Sardasht Dezful village.

This director said: This family is involved in financial issues in order to be able to display their paintings. We have followed up on this in Tehran, and anyway it is clear that renting a gallery, framing the paintings – at least five paintings out of eight people must be framed and the paintings of the mother of the family are also large-, moving the family to Tehran and accommodation. At least one week of them together with the gallery advertising costs a lot and this high cost has made holding an exhibition a regret for them.

Birmvand added: I will honestly say that I will be happy if nothing happens to the film, but instead something good happens to this family. The interesting thing is that on the second day of the festival, all the family members came to Tehran and Mellat campus to see the movie, but due to the traffic, they did not make it to the screening time, but Mr. Hamidi Moghadam (the festival secretary) was kind and reserved a special hall with a special screening for the family. so that they can see their own movie, which they were very satisfied with; Their satisfaction was the biggest reward for me.

He emphasized: Considering the story of the film, our main focus will be on foreign festivals, and I am trying to show the film after the festival, in the cinema or even on TV.
