It may seem obvious to many, even many theater activists, that a university professor has become the secretary of a university theater festival, but not only is it not pleasant that there is a clear violation of this decision and this appointment. It is clear that the author of this article, as one of the founders of the University Theater Festival and the Student Theater Association, wrote this memo in response to the decision of the General Directorate of Culture of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology to appoint a university lecturer as secretary of the University Theater Festival. The most important event of Iranian student theater is written.
1. The University Theater Festival, which was held until the fifth period as the university section of the Fajr Theater Festival in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Guidance, even then in the fourth and fifth periods, two active theater students named Amir Salari and Ali Niki were appointed as secretaries. He was seeing. Since the sixth period, when the festival became independent at the request of the theater associations of the country’s universities (more than 60 universities) and with the help of the country’s student theater association, it has always seen a student as its secretary; Whether it was when the theater assembly selected and introduced the festival secretary, or when the Ministry of Science in the ninth government, out of ruthlessness and non-student behavior, took the work out of the theater assembly and directly selected and appointed the festival secretary. . However, in two periods, people were selected who were nearing the end of their student period or had just graduated, and those two periods were, according to many student theater activists, the most state-run university theater festival.
۲. Not only is it not unpleasant for a university lecturer to be the secretary of a theater festival, but it can also be an opportunity. The fact that it is a government festival or event does not necessarily mean that the festival or event is weak or bad, but the issue is different about the university theater festival. This festival is the most important event of Iranian student theater. (As an effective event, not a management show) is important.
3. We know empiricism and audacity as the difference between student theater and professional theater in the country. This is not the only opinion of the author of this article, many famous professors who have a place in the country’s theater have such an opinion. The student festival should have the color and smell of a student. Can a festival whose secretary is a university lecturer who has a significant managerial position in its history be like this?
4. The issue is not in any way the selection of Dr. Rahmat Amini instead of the student as the secretary of the festival, it is a matter of deviation and violation. Even if the big letters of the Iranian theater were appointed as the secretary of the university theater festival instead of the student (although they themselves are aware of the story and did not accept this title and did not accept to violate the students’ rights) it was still a deviation and a violation. The secretary of the University Theater Festival, as the most important student theater event, must be a student.
5. It may be said that the title of the festival is “University Theater” and it can or may be appropriate for a university lecturer to become the secretary of the festival in order to make the academic approach of the festival more colorful. The answer is obvious, if we know the history of this festival. At that time (2002), when this festival became independent from the Fajr Theater Festival, Jihad Daneshgahi was holding a festival called “National Student Theater Festival”. At that time, on the advice of the late Saeed Keshan Fallah, who was the secretary of the festival, in order to prevent the title from interfering, the festival chose a university suffix after independence, as it was in the sixth and seventh seasons of the Fajr University Theater Festival. The eighth was changed to the “Iranian University Theater” festival and then to the “University Theater” festival, but it has always been a student theater festival. Do not play with words; Experts and managers of the General Directorate of Culture of the Ministry of Science know well that this festival is a student festival.
6. It may be said that Dr. Rahmat Amini is the scientific secretary of the festival and the executive secretary of the festival will still be a student. The answer is that by defining a position as a scientific secretary, specifically the executive secretary will have only the task of execution, and that is enough. If one or even more than one of the university professors is going to give advice to the festival (which can also be useful), why not appoint them as a scientific advisor? However, the advisor should be introduced by the secretary, not the General Directorate of Culture of the Ministry of Science.
7. The reaction to this decision of the General Directorate of Culture of the Ministry of Science will not be limited to this memo and the reactions of a number of founders of the University Theater Festival and the Student Theater Association of the country in cyberspace. We will definitely continue this issue. “We call on all respected journalists in the fields of theater, academia and the media to join us in this direction in order to prevent the establishment of a deviation and violation.”

It should be noted that at 8 pm on Wednesday, March 16, in a news item posted on the portal of the Social and Cultural Deputy of the Ministry of Science, it was announced that Rahmat Amini has been appointed as the scientific secretary of the 24th University Theater Festival. This is the first time that such a title has been defined in the University Theater Festival, where all the executive responsibilities are the responsibility of the students, and it is the first time that a university professor has been appointed as the secretary of a department in this festival.
