Trump’s decision to withdraw from the JCPOA was ill-considered/ the agreement was working – Mehr news agency Iran and world’s news

According to Mehr News Agency, “Robert Mali”, the representative of the US in Iran affairs, in an interview with the “Hard Talk” program of the BBC network, answered the question of “Stephen Sackur” (Stephen Sackur), the host of this program, regarding “Do you admit that diplomacy with Iran has failed in the last 2 years?” He said: Diplomacy never ends; Even when we are doing other things towards Iran. Such as sanctions, applying pressure, confronting Iran’s actions in the region and mobilizing the international community.

The US representative in Iran affairs continued without mentioning his country’s withdrawal from the 2015 international agreement and the violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 in May 2018 by Trump: “Even when we are doing all these things, we are doing indirect negotiations.” We had talks with Iran and publicly announced that we are ready to continue indirect negotiations! But at the same time, we will not hesitate to stop Iran’s violent actions or limit this country’s nuclear program! Therefore, the issue is not about diplomacy or other options; Subjects are followed together.

“Robert Mali” admitted: I think that 2 years ago when we (Democrats) came to office, we took over a dangerous situation due to the ill-considered decision of the previous government to withdraw from the agreement that was working.

He further added: I know you want to know what stage we are in today and it is fair to say that the situation has not improved. The situation has worsened, Iran has expanded its nuclear program in a way that is very dangerous, but we are more united and in a stronger position to confront Iran.

This American official, without referring to the country’s repeated stone-throwing in the path of lifting anti-Iranian sanctions in previous negotiations, claimed: Tehran has destroyed several opportunities to end this crisis; So that we return to the JCPOA and they return to their commitments. So you can reach your own conclusion; But we announced that we are ready to continue the talks with Iran to reach a diplomatic result.

The representative of America in Iranian affairs said: I think the important thing is that there was a real chance to revive the JCPOA, they turned their backs on this opportunity! We also do not act as if nothing happened. But whatever the diplomatic result is, we are ready to follow it and we have to see if we can reach the result. There are two issues that we must distinguish between them. One is how close they are to having uranium at the level of producing nuclear weapons, which they are very, very close to, and the other is how close they are to a bomb. These are different. They have not resumed their nuclear weapons program. If this action is taken, the situation will change, but we are not so close to this stage because it requires longer efforts. “Biden” did not say that diplomacy with Iran and the possibility of understanding with this country regarding the nuclear program are dead!

Mali said: However, we are not comfortable with how much they are nerds (to build nuclear weapons). That’s why we have taken the diplomatic path, and as Biden said, if this path doesn’t work, all options will be on the table.

“Robert Mali” went on to violate the United Nations Charter regarding the necessity of non-interference in the internal affairs of independent countries in connection with scattered disturbances in Iran and said: “We are not looking to change the system because I think there are enough sad experiences in trying to engineer change.” regime, especially in the Middle East (West Asia). What we are looking to do is impose more sanctions by the international community (against Tehran).
