Turkey seeks to renew gas contracts with Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia


According to the report of the International Economy Group of Fars News Agency, quoted by Tass, Fatih Donmuz, the Minister of Energy of Turkey, announced that the country wants to renew the gas import contracts with Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran.

During an interview with Khabar Global Turkey, he said: Our gas suppliers are Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran, and we plan to extend our contracts with them for another period. We are looking for an answer to our energy demand.

Gas cooperation has been one of the important topics discussed between the presidents of Turkey and Russia during their meeting on July 19 in Tehran. Turkey and Russia are directly connected to each other through two gas transmission pipelines named Turkish Stream and Blue Stream. In 2021, Turkey imported nearly 16 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia through the Bolu Stream pipeline.

In the first 6 months of this year, Turkey has received about 13 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia.
