The Turkish presidency has asked parliament to extend military operations in Syria and Iraq for another two years.

According to Sputnik, quoting the Anatolian news agency, the Turkish presidency submitted a note to the Turkish parliament before noon on Wednesday requesting an extension of the powers granted to the president in connection with military operations in Syria and Iraq for another two years. .

The memorandum, signed by Erdogan, stressed that the dangers and threats to Turkey’s national security are constantly increasing as a result of the ongoing developments and conflicts in the areas adjacent to the country’s southern borders. It attaches great importance to the protection of the stability, national unity and territorial integrity of Iraq.

On the other hand, the continued presence of elements of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and ISIS in Iraq and separatist efforts based on ethnicity, a direct threat to regional peace, stability. And it is the security of our country.

The Turkish presidency also notes in its note on Syria: Terrorist organizations, especially the PKK, the PKK (Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party), and the PKK (People’s Defense Units as the party’s military branch). And ISIS, which continues to be present in areas close to our borders with Syria, continue to operate against Turkey, our national security, and civilians.
