Turkish Defense Minister: Our armed forces respond to any threat

He said: “An incident occurred on August 23 (Tuesday, September 1st). In the past, we entered into negotiations with the United States to purchase the “Patriot” air defense system, but they did not tell us about this system. We talked to France, they also did not give us the “SAMP” requested system. So we went and bought S-400 from Russia. Now on August 23, another model of this system, the S-300, put Turkish F-16 fighters under radar lock. “Such carelessness is unacceptable.”
On Monday, Greece rejected Turkey’s claim that its S-300 missile defense system was locked on Turkish F-16 fighters. According to Akathimirini newspaper, Greek military sources denied this claim and added: “Interceptions are carried out by our fighters and according to international laws.”
These two neighboring countries have been in tension for a long time and both sides accuse each other of violating their maritime and airspace. Greece and Turkey also have differences in the field of energy and the issue of refugees.
In the military field, Greece has recently ordered 24 French-made Rafale fighters, 6 new and 18 second-hand ones, as well as three French frigates. Greece also sent a letter to the United States to buy a squadron of F-35 fighter jets in June.
In another development, the Greek government spokesman said on Monday that Greece could mobilize its traditional allies and the international legal authority to prevent the escalation of Turkey’s provocative actions.
