“Ultrasound” tells of the tendency to have a son / Reasons for abortion of a girl

The documentary “Ultrasound” directed by Hayedeh Moradi refers to a serious problem and social crisis in certain parts of the country.

Charso Press: Hayedeh Moradi, director of the semi-feature documentary “Ultrasound” produced by the Center for the Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animation Cinema, said about this documentary, which is in the post-production stage: “Naturally, 105 boys are born in the world for every 100 girls born.” 2% of the extra 5 boys die due to the poor sex of the baby boy, up to three months old, and the remaining 3% die due to other issues such as adolescence, participation in war, etc. at the age of 20 to 25 years. Baby boys and girls are equal to each other.

He continued: “Unfortunately, in the last decade, the natural number of babies in the world has changed from 100 girls to 105 boys and has increased from 100 girls to 112 boys.” This is on the rise in the Middle East and developing countries, and countries like India and China are in a crisis of girl shortages, to the point where China has become a girl importer. The problem of having children has increased in Iran and the number of boys born in Ardabil province has increased from 100 girls to 109 boys, which is an additional 3%. It will increase to millions in the coming years, due in part to the documentary “Ultrasound.”

Explaining why ultrasound has increased the number of baby boys, the director of “Electric Roads” said: They easily go to abortion or help their child become a boy through diet, injection or egg implantation. This thematic documentary focuses on the gender determination that has fallen into the hands of human beings and is the cause of the destruction of the fetal sex balance in the world.

According to Moradi, the birth rate has increased in the provinces of Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Zabul, and for this reason “sonography” has been produced in Ardabil province.

The filmmaker said about the reason for making this documentary: First, in Ardabil province and among my relatives, I came across similar cases where, for example, someone like his child was a girl, had an abortion before birth, or in my previous documentary, which dealt with not marrying girls in In an interview with one of my subjects, who was a gynecologist, we mentioned this. One of the reasons why this doctor did not get married was that his suitor’s condition was that their child be a boy, that is, the man had asked the woman, according to his knowledge, to help their first child become a boy. It was there that this issue became serious for me and I thought of making a documentary “Ultrasound” and then I realized that the birth statistics of children in Ardabil have been distorted.

He emphasized: a woman was supposed to be present in this documentary; She went to the doctor to determine the sex of her son. Due to his wife’s opposition, he was barred from accompanying the project after three months, so that if the baby girl was pregnant, she could abort it without anyone interfering.

In response to the question of which mothers take this action and abort their daughter, Moradi said: 2 groups of women do this. The first group is educated women who get married at an older age and do not have the opportunity to have children, so they prefer their only child to be a boy, and the second group is the poor. In weak families, women are usually frustrated and deprived of basic rights. They do not want their child to be a girl and have similar experiences with them. Of course, in the abortion stage, women are more hesitant than men, but men put pressure on them.

The director of the documentary “Qarli Damlar” stated in the end: I hope the documentary “Ultrasound” will be effective after the broadcast and will prevent the forthcoming crisis. This documentary is like an issue we have unveiled, and the film wants to open the issue for us without the veil. At the very least, this documentary will do what those who want a son worry about their child’s future and the absence of a spouse.
