UN: Consequences of Ukraine war become more apparent as it drags on

Ms. Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Deputy Secretary General for Political and Peace Affairs, added on Friday local time at the Security Council meeting: “There is no sign of the end of the war in Ukraine, and on the contrary, this war is intensifying.”

DiCarlo added: “The impact of the Ukraine war on the world level is clearly visible, and its consequences will only become more apparent as the war drags on, especially as winter begins.”

This senior UN official continued: More than 400 attacks on Ukrainian healthcare centers have been recorded.

He stated: Russia’s use of explosive weapons with a wide sphere of influence has caused heavy losses to the health sector of Ukraine.

UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peace Affairs continued: As of July 25, there have been 414 attacks on health services in Ukraine, resulting in 85 deaths and 100 injuries.

Access to health services, including reproductive health for women and access to affordable health care for children, has also become more limited, he said.

Stating that the grain transfer agreement between Russia and Ukraine will help reduce the global food crisis, De Carlo said: it is necessary for the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Turkey to cooperate for the effective implementation of this agreement.

On February 21, 2022 (March 2, 1400), Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region, criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns. On February 23 (March 4) and just one day before the start of the war in Ukraine, the Council of the European Union approved the first package of sanctions against Russia in response to this action.

On Thursday, February 24 (March 5, 1400), Putin also launched military operations against Ukraine, which he called “special operations”, thus turning the tense Moscow-Kiev relationship into a military confrontation.
