UN Global Warming Concerns / Governments Commit to Forest Conservation

In its latest report, the United Nations Climate Change Monitoring Center (IPCC) has expressed concern about global warming, protecting forests, changing diets and changing the climate, according to Reuters. Agricultural practices can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about a quarter.

The United Nations warns that governments have not yet done their part.

According to the United Nations, about 22 percent of greenhouse gas emissions come from agriculture, forestry and other land-based industries. In this report, deforestation and combustion of fossil fuels have been the main cause of global warming.

According to the report, forest protection, carbon sequestration in agricultural soils and more sustainable diets can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 to 30 percent, which is effective in reducing global warming by 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius.

The UN report states that the lack of government support for long-term forest protection programs and the ownership of private land in forests is the main obstacle to the project.

It is said that reducing meat consumption and switching to plant-based diets can greatly help regulate the earth’s temperature.
