UNESCO’s invitation to Iran to participate in the United Nations Water Conference/Iran’s suitable experience in providing sustainable drinking water


According to the economic reporter of Fars news agency, the second United Nations Water Summit in 2023 will be hosted by 3 countries, the United States, the Netherlands and Tajikistan, from the second to the fourth of April on the occasion of World Water Day.

The goal of this summit is to provide the people of the world access to safe and sanitary water by 2023. According to the information contained in the UN reports, people die every year in the world due to lack of access to sanitary drinking water sources. On the other hand, about 4 billion people in the world are currently facing the problem of accessing water resources.

According to Fars, the representative of UNESCO in the Urban Water Management Center under the United Nations has invited the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend this meeting as the head of the Council of Water Governors as the highest water policy authority in West Asia.

According to Fars report, 100% of the cities and 85.6% of the country’s rural population have access to sustainable drinking water, and Iran’s experience in this area can provide the basis for solving the problems of the people of the world and improving their well-being.
