United Nations: Guterres has no plans to visit Russia



According to IRNA from Sputnik, the Secretary General of the United Nations is currently traveling to Ukraine and visiting the cities of Lviv and Odessa.

Guterres will also visit the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul on Saturday. The joint coordination center, which was established based on the agreement between Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations, is responsible for monitoring the transportation of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea ports of this country.

The UN spokesperson told reporters: “At this stage, there is no plan for Guterres’ trip to Russia.”

According to IRNA, the Secretary General of the United Nations, who visited Ukraine, expressed his concern about the situation of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine and its shelling.

António Guterres told reporters after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the city of Lviv in western Ukraine: Equipment and military forces must be withdrawn from the Zaporizhia power plant.

He stressed: These facilities should not be used in military operations. Civilian use of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant must be restored and security around it must be ensured.

Ukrainian President Zelensky also wrote on his Telegram page: In the meeting with Guterres, special attention was paid to Russia’s blackmail in the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also announced on Thursday that he discussed ways to end the war between Ukraine and Russia in his meeting with the President of Ukraine and the Secretary General of the United Nations.
