Unveiling of Sardis, the founder and pioneer of Iranian boxing



According to IRNA, Sardis Ahmad Nategh Nouri and Manouchehr Maghsoudi, two of Iran’s boxing veterans, were held today (Monday) at the National Olympic Academy in the presence of the 13th Minister of Sports.

Earlier on July 1, the late Mahmoud Namjoo won the 1952 Helsinki Olympic silver and 1956 Melbourne Olympic bronze medals and won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the world weightlifting championship. Azad, the late Ismail Alamkhah, bronze medalist in weightlifting at the 1960 Rome Olympics, the late Aboutaleb Talebi, bronze medalist in the 1968 Mexico City freestyle wrestling, the late Parviz Jalayer, weightlifter and silver medalist in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico, Azad and bronze medalist of 1968 Mexico City and gold and 2 silver medals of the world championship and Mansour Barzegar, holder of silver medal of 1976 Montreal Canada and holder of one gold and 2 silver medals of world freestyle wrestling and also in Paralympic section with Mohammad Reza Mirzaei Jaberi, holder of four Paralympic gold medals 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing were unveiled in the last days of the Twelfth Government.

At that time, the complete statue of the late Jahan Pahlavan Takhti was unveiled as a “symbol of the National Sports Museum”, which is located in the center of the National Olympic Committee’s ground floor sports hall.

In different rounds of the Olympic Games, 70 medals have been won by 55 people.

There will now be seven more sardis, which will include the young Olympic champions.
