US agrees to foreign investment in northern Syria

US officials claim that these investments will create economic opportunities for the Syrian people in vulnerable areas where ISIL can grow.

The new US license also allows the purchase of petroleum products such as gasoline in these areas, but the US still prohibits doing business with the Syrian government or entities that are under US sanctions.
Washington, on the other hand, has stated that oil and gasoline purchased from these areas of Syria are not allowed to enter the United States.
