US and Canada commit to long-term aid to Ukraine

According to IRNA from Tass news agency, American Defense Minister Lloyd Austin met with his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand on Saturday.
Both sides emphasized in this meeting that they will continue their security assistance to Ukraine even in the long term.
The meeting between the US and Canadian defense ministers was held on the sidelines of the Halifax International Security Forum.
Other topics discussed between Austin and Anne include the release of the Pentagon’s 2022 National Defense Strategy document, cooperation to counter Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine, and the modernization of the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
The US and Canadian defense ministers pledged to continue providing assistance to strengthen Ukraine’s long-term security and sovereignty.
It was previously announced that the security negotiations will be the focus of the US Defense Minister’s visit to Canada.
The US defense minister arrived in Canada on Saturday.
The Pentagon news website also reported in the same context: Austin is scheduled to deliver important remarks at the 2022 Halifax International Security Forum focusing on creating a flexible security architecture in coordination with America’s allies and partners throughout the Indo-Pacific region and Europe.
The Secretary of Defense of the United States is also scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister of Canada to discuss the close defense relations between the two countries and the importance of strategic investments in the field of defense capabilities.
