US extends customs exemption for Chinese medical products

According to IRNA on Saturday, the US Trade Representative’s Office announced that it has extended the exemptions for another six months until November 30.
The exemption from the 25 percent tariff imposed by former President Donald Trump’s administration was granted and subsequently extended in 2020, but was due to expire on May 31, according to the agency. Products affected by the exemption include face masks, surgical gloves, hospital gowns, and other related products and devices.
In the wake of the trade war with China in April 2018 (April 1397), Trump released a list of about 1,300 Chinese goods, including televisions, aircraft parts and medical devices, and announced that he intends to establish a tariff of 25 on these goods with the aim of establishing trade justice between the two countries.
