US official: Russia still has a significant number of ballistic missiles

“According to US estimates, Russia has not taken steps to re-supply accurate bombs,” the unnamed US defense official told CNN on Monday, according to IRNA.
He also noted that in the past 26 days, Russia has fired more than 1,100 missiles at Ukraine. Most of these missiles were short and medium range and cruise and ballistic.
According to IRNA, US intelligence officials have previously claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is determined to escalate attacks in Ukraine, despite his unpreparedness to face the consequences of the war on the Russian economy and the prospect of its long-term success.
“I think Putin is angry and frustrated,” William Burns, director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), warned lawmakers in the House Intelligence Committee during a report on global threats. He is likely to escalate the attacks and try to defeat the Ukrainian army, regardless of its civilian casualties.
Russia went to war with Ukraine on March 25, following the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier and on March 2 for the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns. Kiev had called for membership in the European Union and NATO, but now Ukrainian President Volodymyrzlensky has backed down from joining NATO, explicitly stating that his country will not join the treaty, which is considered a military tool for Washington.
