US Treasury warns China about Russia

According to Fars News Agency’s International Service, despite the opposition of Beijing officials to Washington’s pressure on other countries to join the unilateral sanctions against Moscow, the US Treasury Secretary addressed China once again regarding the Ukraine crisis.

According to the network AlgeriaUS Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen reiterated the Biden administration’s stance on Ukraine in a speech to the Atlantic Council think tank in Washington, DC, on Wednesday.

The senior US official called on China to press Russia to end its “military aggression” against Ukraine. He said China would lose its place in the international community if Beijing did not help Washington end this “heinous war.”

US Treasury Secretary Joe Biden told the gathering that he “eagerly” hopes that China, given its “special relationship” with Russia, will do something to end the Ukraine war.

“The world’s attitude towards China and its desire to accept more economic integration may be influenced by China ‘s response to our call for decisive action on Russia,” Janet Yellen warned.

“China can not expect the international community to respect the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity in the future, if it does not do so now,” he said, referring to Beijing’s stance on Taiwan and its emphasis on Chinese sovereignty over the region.

Senior US officials have repeatedly warned China of its support for Russia since the Ukraine crisis began on March 26, 1944, with the launch of Moscow’s “Special Military Operation,” and criticized Beijing for failing to comply with strong economic pressure from Washington and its allies on Moscow.

The US Treasury Secretary returned to work after attending the Atlantic Council think tank, where he implicitly warned China not to side with Washington’s stance against Moscow.

According to Al Jazeera, Janet Yellen warned countries that she was “still watching (and did not enter the fray to impose sanctions on Russia)” amid US-led pressure to isolate Russia through tough economic sanctions and other measures. .

“The future of our international order is in jeopardy, both for peaceful security and for economic prosperity, and let ‘s be clear, the united coalition (Washington and its allies against Moscow) … about actions that undermine the sanctions we have imposed,” he added. “It will not be indifferent.”

The senior Washington official came as Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Wednesday that Beijing considered unilateral US sanctions against Moscow unacceptable because all other countries would have to pay for it.

A spokesman for China’s diplomatic service said the United States is a great power and has a special responsibility to uphold the rules of the world economic system and maintain its stability. Conditions should not be allowed for all other countries to have to pay for Washington’s unilateral sanctions.

“The US government must correct its old mistakes and assist in the Russia-Ukraine peace talks,” the senior Chinese Foreign Ministry diplomat added. “War and sanctions are not the only choices,” Zhao said.
