Video- Dariush Farhang is afraid of playing which role?

“I am the role of the most hated character of Shiite Islam; I played Ibn Ziyad. At first, I was afraid that I would play this role because this character is very hated in history, and I thought that maybe they would hit me with sticks and stones in the street, but it turned out to be the opposite, and they welcomed my performance in this role.”
Charso Press: In continuation of publishing its series of oral history programs on the occasion of the birthday of “Dariush Farhang”, director and veteran actor of cinema, theater and television, the Museum of Cinema has published parts of this artist’s conversation, which you can read below:
Referring to his appearance in the movie Muhammad Rasoolullah (PBUH) as Abu Sufyan, Dariush Farhang said: Although my role in this movie was small, I like it very much because it was very different and was well seen. This role was far from my main character but it was a role that challenged the actor and as you know negative roles are more attractive than positive roles because they have more drama.
He continued: It is interesting that I play the role of the most hated character in Shia Islam. I played Ibn Ziyad. At first, I was afraid that I would play this role because this character is very hated in history, and I thought that maybe they would hit me with sticks and stones in the street, but it turned out to be the opposite and they welcomed my performance in this role.
He also said about his cooperation with Hossein Farah Bakhsh: One day, Farah Bakhsh called me at home and invited me to his office to make a film together. Farahbakhsh and I had very different intellectual worlds, that’s why I consulted my friends and they said that he was talking about another world and I was talking about another world, but when I talked to him, I really liked his personality, because he is very human. Smart, up-to-date and most importantly, he knew the commercial and blockbuster cinema very well.
Farhang recalled: Farahbakhsh gave me the bitter script of “Leaning on the Wind”, which I did not imagine would become a bestseller in commercial cinema. After reading the script, I told him that my question is, why did you invite me to make this film and that this script is very bitter, and he replied to me: By the way, I think it’s time to make a bitter film and since Farah Bakhsh We started in professional commercial cinema, and fortunately, even though it was a very bitter movie, it sold very well because the movie was well-made and commercialized.
He continued: In the movie “Leaning on the Wind” there were actors such as Zinda Yad Dawood Rashidi, Amin Hayai, Maryla Zarei, Laia Zanganeh, etc., all of whom were excellent.
At the end, Farhang said: “Currently, I took a break to once again do what I am, what I think is my taste, and what I grew and formed with it, so once again I am interested in making a film from these observations and experiences that I love.
