We have no law banning the import of cars

According to Eqtesadonline, quoted by ISNA, Hojjatullah Firoozi, referring to the high number of casualties in road accidents and the role of low quality domestic cars in the growth of this statistic, said: I, like other people, am critical of the situation of the automotive industry. It is expected that the industry, which has been supported in the country for over 50 years, will perform much better and produce a quality and safe car. But I believe we should not question the basis of the debate because of our criticisms of an issue.
Numerous factors are involved in road accidents
He went on to say that during the Eid holidays, while crossing a main road, I saw several cases of car’s words that had nothing to do with the car, adding: We have the automobile industry, ignore and destroy the foundation of this great industry of the country, which can be effective in national production and job creation.
The member of the Parliamentary Committee on Industries and Mines stated that the current government and the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade have plans to organize the country’s automobile industry: “On the other hand, I believe that we should not give the market exclusively to a few automakers.” We must use the capacity of the private sector to expand activities in the field of automotive and increase the quality and variety of our products and use the capacity of imports.
The representative of the people of Fasa in the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized: car imports are not only not detrimental to domestic production but also bring competition to the car market and will force car manufacturers to improve quality and safety. It is not true that car imports are detrimental to domestic production. The use of imported capacities, in addition to meeting part of the demands of society, will create competition in the market and will force domestic automakers to improve their quality. Today, we have used foreign academic books to do research in our universities, which leads to strengthening the scientific base in the country. The same is true in the industry debate.
There are no barriers to importing cars
Firoozi added: “Certainly, when it comes to car imports and supporting imports, we are not looking for unlimited imports.” Imports should be such that they do not affect domestic production, but at the same time create competition in the market and complement domestic production.
He concluded: “We do not have any law banning the import of cars, but at times it was prevented from importing many goods to prevent the currency from leaving the country.” The government is now free to import cars. The parliament’s approval of the budget, with the amendments made to it, gives the government the authority to import cars.
