According to Mehr News Agency, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, stated in an interview with Al-Mayadin: “Iran’s policy in terms of political independence and non-compliance with the West and the East is a fixed policy.” The 13th government in the Islamic Republic of Iran has engaged in intelligent diplomacy and active cooperation with all countries.
According to the report, the head of Iran’s diplomatic service added: “We have always extended our hand of cooperation to our neighboring countries.” It is true that Tehran’s relations with Riyadh are not good, but we are not responsible for that.
“We have announced our readiness to start the fifth round of political talks with Saudi Arabia,” he said. Currently, relations between Riyadh and Tehran have challenges. In any case, we are trying to keep the talks going. We believe that some inappropriate behavior by the Saudis is affecting relations with Tehran.
Amir Abdullahian continued his remarks: The relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with many Arab countries are friendly. Referring to the war against Yemen, he said: “We praise the Yemeni people’s defense of our sovereignty.” The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the cessation of hostilities and the lifting of the siege against Yemen.
Referring to the Mena tragedy in Saudi Arabia, he added: “We will not forget this catastrophic incident.” Regarding the relations between Tehran and Cairo, Amir Abdullahian also said: “Iran’s policy is based on strengthening relations with Egypt.” We have common points with Egypt, which are among the positions of both sides on the Syrian crisis.
Referring to Operation Sword of Quds against the Zionist regime, the head of the diplomatic service of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: “Operation Sword of Quds revealed the weakness of the Zionists.” He also referred to Tehran’s relations with Abu Dhabi and said: “During these relations, we will not forget the issue of Palestine because this issue is Tehran’s red line.”
Amir Abdullahian also referred to the nuclear talks in Vienna and said: “We have reached an agreement in the Vienna talks.” What is important for Tehran is the lifting of sanctions and the provision of guarantees in this regard. The Americans have been trying to talk directly with Tehran about the remaining issues in the talks.
He added: “The Biden government must show more goodwill than just direct negotiations.” Proof of US goodwill will only be possible through the lifting of one of the sanctions against Iran.
