We want to pay our legal debt of 400 million pounds to Iran – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

According to the Mehr news agency, quoting the Independent newspaper, “Liz Terrace”, the British Foreign Secretary, announced on Wednesday that the میلیون 400 million debt of this country to Iran is a “legal debt” and London is trying to pay it.
According to the newspaper, the British Foreign Secretary said in a meeting initiated by the Chatham House Institute: “We want to pay this debt and we consider it a legal debt.” But there are many issues that I am sure you are all well aware of!
Noting that he had spoken to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian about this, he claimed: “For various reasons, this is not an easy task!”
It should be noted that the debt is related to a military contract between Tehran and London in the 1970s, according to which London was obliged to deliver 1,500 Chiften tanks and 250 armored vehicles to Iran; The contract was terminated after the capture of the American spy nest in Tehran.
The International Court of Arbitration has ordered a British military service company to pay میلیون 400 million to Iran. Meanwhile, the British government claims that there is no way to transfer this debt to Iran due to financial sanctions against Tehran, and for this reason, it has refused to pay this debt to Iran so far.
