What are the Chinese doing in Afghanistan?

According to the online economy report, citing Tasnim, “China Town”, a Chinese business group in Afghanistan, announced that it is going to establish industrial towns in this country following an agreement with the Taliban.
Li Shijing, the manager of this business group, stated that this project will be launched with the Taliban officials on Thursday.
In the framework of this project, Chinese companies want to invest in fields such as mining, construction and building materials.
The plan to build this industrial town was proposed by the former government of Afghanistan about 3 years ago.
According to reports, five Chinese companies are now operating in Afghanistan and at least 20 other companies have shown interest in investing in Afghanistan.
Most of the Chinese companies are looking to invest in the mining sector, especially the lithium mines of Afghanistan, because this element has a wide application in the fields of technology.
Despite the interest of Chinese companies in investing in Afghanistan, many of them are waiting for the improvement of the situation in this country.
