What changes have been made to the latest version of WhatsApp that has not yet been released?

If you are one of those users who have a large backup volume of your WhatsApp messages, the latest version of WhatsApp has been released, bad news for you.

WhatSapp Messenger has released a new update through the Google Play Beta Program and has upgraded the WhatsApp version of users in this experimental group to 2.21.21.7. But what new features have been added to the latest version of WhatsApp?

Manage backups

After activating the end-to-end encrypted backups in the beta version 2.21.21.5, WhatsApp will be able to use these backups from today by installing the beta version 2.21.21.7 for more trial users. But this is not the only feature of the latest version of WhatsApp. The development team is working on a new section that allows users to manage backup sizes.

Thanks to this section, the user can delete a specific file type from the next backup. Of course, this feature is under development and is not yet available to users. Unfortunately, the release date of this feature is not known, but it will surely be available to WhatsApp test group users soon.

But there may be another reason to develop this capability. As many of you probably know, after the agreement reached between WhatsApp and Google, support for users’ accounts in Google Drive cloud storage will no longer be unlimited. But if this backup size management option is to be added to WhatsApp, chances are that Google Drive space will be available to WhatsApp users again.

What does that mean? Google may soon stop offering unlimited space for WhatsApp backups, giving each user 2,000 megabytes (equivalent to 2GB) of storage and backup space. Of course, this new plan has not been announced yet and may be implemented in the coming weeks. Just like the Google Photos app that stopped offering unlimited space to users a few months ago.
