It must be said that these works have many fans and have invited many audiences to be happy and in a good mood.

* Theater city surrounded by robots

Hamed Zarean, the author and director of puppet shows, exposed six “giant robots” to the public at the Tehran-Mubarak Puppet Theater Festival.

He said about this show in an interview: “Our main job is to make “giant dolls of Iran” and we are with the audience at the Tehran Puppet Festival with six new dolls that we have just made. Unfortunately, we are always looking for traditional activities and have neglected the modern part of work. This has caused less audience to be involved in our work. We tried to break the taboo and do this by differentiating the space of presenting the work and going to the field spaces.

Zarean continued: “We have a speechless performance that does not have a specific story framework. But we are trying to show the level of technology and the differentness of Iranian performances.”

In response to the question to what extent the Iranian audience communicates with these giant robots and dolls, he said: “In a static state and without any performance, our work has its audience. These robots are three meters high and involve the audience in any situation. Today, our audience is passing through street shows and does not have the patience to come and see a show with dialogue and words, and may stop for a few minutes and see a part of the work and leave; But we tried not to use words and use our idea-oriented view in construction and technique; We just want to engage the audience’s mind in such a way that they don’t think about anything at that moment and only pay attention to seeing a work and show.”

* “Shilo” for the environment

Faramarz Gholamian, the writer and director of “Shilo” puppet show from Shahin Shahr, Isfahan, is present at the 19th Tehran-Mubarak International Puppet Show Festival, and on the first day of this event, he performed a street show with the theme of environment.

He explained about the name of this performance: “In the south and Bandar Abbas, seaweed is called Shilo, which is very important for the production of oxygen and maintaining the ecosystem of marine organisms. In fact, the oxygen of the entire sea is supplied by these algae.” Shiloh is the name of a giant doll that is a symbol of sea creatures and of course seaweed; For example, this creature’s leg looks like an octopus, its hand is a starfish, and its head is algae, which came out of the sea. This creature meets a girl and takes her to the bottom of the sea, but she gets into trouble due to environmental pollution caused by humans, and in the end it is this girl who saves Shiloh.

This director, referring to his environmental concerns, added: “I am originally from the south and I often see that people do not care about the sea and its cleanliness, especially the oil tankers that dump their waste and oil into the sea. I, along with some of my friends, have had this concern since childhood to clean up the sea environment. I think this is a push for people to be aware that this life and this earth is not just for them and belongs to all beings. While foreign countries are making artificial algae, we, who have several types of seaweed here, are not only not used, but we are also destroying them. If a few people learn something by watching this show and respect the sea and its creatures, it is enough and valuable for me.”

* Neighbors who came to Tehran Puppet Festival

A group of artists and presenters of Iraq’s fourth television, who have traveled to Iran and attended the Shahr Theater complex, were guests of the 19th Tehran-Mubarak International Puppet Show Festival. They considered it an important matter for Iranian theater.

The 19th International Festival of Tehran-Mubarak Puppet Show, directed by Hadi Hejazifar, is being held from the 8th to the 17th of July.
