The motto of the World Museum Day in 2023 is “Museums, Sustainability and Well-Being”, which is actually an emphasis on the fact that museums can continuously create positive changes in societies and be effective in achieving sustainable development.
He clarified: In this year’s World Day ceremony, planning was done in such a way that, in addition to the event that is held every year in the presence of experts of the country’s museological community, an event for the general public and museum audience is also considered. Therefore, due to the importance of Mashakh Square, as a cultural center in the central core of Tehran, with the number of different museums, in cooperation with the museums of Tehran and other related urban institutions, an arrangement was made in this square so that the museums would be welcomed by the people.
Adibzadeh continued: In this public event named “Museum Square”, about 30 museums of Tehran will introduce themselves, and various programs such as children’s workshops, live music performances, etc. will be held.
The General Director of Museums reminded: The official event will be accompanied by the presence of the specialized community, with the presentation of a report on the performance of the General Directorate of Museums, the speech of the highest official of the Ministry, the Deputy Minister and representatives of the international and national ICOM. Special appreciation is also given to selected activists and experts in the field of museums at the national level.
