What percentage of Iran Khodro’s production was offered for immediate sale / damage to carmakers from sanctions

Online Economy – Pouya Dadjoo; Immediate sale by lottery, a policy that has been implemented since June 2016; A plan based on the idea of policymakers to save the car market from dealers; Dealers who were blamed only for the turmoil in the car market. But now that about two years have passed since the implementation of this policy, not only have prices not been controlled, but with the insistence on mandatory pricing and the widening of the gap between factory and market prices, the demand for speculation has increased.

It is enough to take a look at Iran Khodro’s immediate sales statistics. From June 1399 to March 1400, Iran Khodro has held a total of thirty-four stages of immediate sales, of which the share in 1399 was 14 stages and the share in 1400 was 20 stages.

In 1399, the average difference between the factory price of the supplied cars and the market price was about 91 million Tomans, which in 1400 reached about 107 million Tomans. As a result of the increase in the price gap, in 1400 we saw an increase in registrants; In 1399, an average of three million people were registered in each stage of immediate sales, which last year reached about three million and five hundred thousand people.

But how many cars did Iran Khodro produce to respond to market demand and how many of the produced cars did it sell immediately?

According to the statistics published in the Cadal system, Iran Khodro’s production in 1399 was equal to 480,338 vehicles. If we consider the criterion as the month of holding immediate sales, Iran Khodro has produced a total of 422,476 vehicles from June to March 2016.

This is while the number of cars offered for immediate sale in that year was equal to 163,450 units. Also, in the eleven months of 1400, Iran Khodro’s production was equal to 429,789 units. On the other hand, in the eleven months of last year, the number of cars offered for immediate sale in Iran Khodro was equal to 179,600 units.

Approximately in 1399 Iran Khodro has offered about 39% and last year about 42% of its production as immediate sales.

A look at Iran Khodro’s production statistics since 2009 shows that although the country’s automobile industry bears the title of national production, it is extremely vulnerable to the escalation of sanctions. The following chart shows Iran Khodro’s production trend in the first 9 months of the year:

As it is clear, Iran Khodro’s production has dropped sharply in two periods, both of which have been related to the intensification of sanctions. At the beginning of the 90s and in 1392, Iran Khodro’s 9-month production decreased to 240,000 units, which shows a decrease of about 58% compared to 1390.

Also in 1398, Iran Khodro’s production decreased again with the intensification of sanctions and increased from 523 thousand units in the first 9 months of 1396 to 260 thousand units. During the last two years, although the production of this car manufacturer has slightly increased and reached 325 thousand units in the first 9 months of last year, but it is still a significant distance from its peak years.
