What was Mirkarimi’s concern about making “Names”?/Actors and discovering the world of martyrs – Mehr News Agency | Iran and world’s news

Amir Mehran, the technical director, assistant director and editor of the motion comic series “Names” directed by Reza Mirkarimi and produced by Mohammad Pirhadi, said about the background of the production of this animated comic series “Names” and the idea of making it in a conversation with Mehr reporter: I think it was in the late 1990s that during The contact we had with Mr. Mirkarimi, the director, and Mohammad Pirhadi, the producer, we talked about the production of this series. It seems that “Names” was supposed to be created as a documentary-reconstruction, and some of the ideas for this work had also been formed. At first, most of our focus was on whether we could come up with a new idea for the formation of this work or not, and we held meetings in this regard.

Mehran also said about how he got to know Rezamir Karimi: I had made an experimental film called “Mesir Sard Khon” many years ago, which was created with a number of photographs. Later, I had seen a technique in a documentary film that worked with drawing and illustration on a comic strip. had done that it was similar to the atmosphere of my film. The film “Cold Path” won awards in several festivals, and by the way, Mr. Mirkarimi was the head of the Jury of Roish Festival, who gave an award to my film, and this was the beginning of my acquaintance with him. The visual style of the film was very new and attractive for those years, and its combination with the comic strip could have been more attractive. I raised this issue with Mr. Mirkarimi and considering that they always welcome new and different ideas, this idea was also welcomed.

He continued by pointing out that Reza Mirkarimi was initially worried about the formation of this work, which had a new and different atmosphere, and said: According to my experiences in the field of animation, I assured Mr. Mirkarimi that with the tests we are doing, in the end, We will reach the desired result. Also, the timing of this work, which was about 30 minutes, and whether it could be attractive enough for the audience in the comic motion technique or not, were some of the initial challenges of the work.

Reza Mirkarimi’s concern about making “Names”

In response to the question, what concerns did he and Reza Mirkarimi follow for the production of this animation series and what challenges did they face? He stated: Reza Mirkarimi’s biggest concern in creating this work was to express the sentence “to look at the martyrs through the eyes of ordinary people” and to avoid the atmosphere that the media has created from the sanctity and inaccessibility of these people, as if martyrs are different from ordinary people and They are from a special class of society. For this reason, we had to show this space in a way that would be tangible for the people and the audience and identify with the martyrs. This was the most important issue that we thought about at all times from the idea and script writing to the moment when the work was completed. For this reason, we tried to pay attention to the narrations that were written based on these episodes so that they also express the fact that the martyrs are ordinary people. I think in the end the desired result was achieved and this happened.

Mehran, in response to the question, how was the presence of face artists for the voice acting of this series provided? He explained: The idea of voicing each character with the voice of facial artists came from Mr. Mirkarimi. Of course, the presence of Mohsen Qaraei and Mr. Mohammad Pirhadi, the producer, was also very influential in the formation of this work. For this reason, it was decided to use the voice of an actor whose voice, dialect and language fit that character for the main character of each story. Having said that, we used Parviz Perstowii for the role of “Shahid Chamran”, “Shahid Doran” and his wife Amir Jafari and Rima Ramin Far, “Shahid Bakri” Farhad Aslani and Shahid Bagheri with the voice of Afshin Hashemi.

Many of these voice actors spent time to get to know the situation of these martyrs, to discover the world of that person, so that when they speak for that person, it is effective. He added: The rest of the voices were also managed by the dubbing of Mr. Ashkan Sadeghi, and the voices were selected according to the type of voice, color and character of each role and were placed next to famous artists.

This animation director continued this discussion and added: We had a voice witness who was initially recorded and timed by that person. For this reason, after the voices were recorded by the voice actors, we had to make changes in the editing form and the speed of the plans.

Pointing out that during the formation of “names”, many actors and voice actors were interested in this work, he said: Many of these voice actors spent time to know the condition of these martyrs and to discover the world of that person. Be effective when they speak for that person. In my opinion, in the end, a favorable result was achieved; Because it creates a good feeling for the audience who hears the familiar voice in the character of the martyrs.

This young filmmaker further explained about the features of the script of this work: I was added to this project in the middle of writing the script, and part of the writing of the script had happened before my presence, and as I said, this work was supposed to be remade as a documentary. to be

Mirkarimi’s emphasis on first-hand and less heard narratives

He added: Part of the script research for the episodes “Chamran” and “Duran” had been done, and after that I joined the team of “Names” and was present at the script meetings, in all of which Mr. Mirkarimi emphasized that these narratives were based on extensive research. It should be formed from the friends and comrades of these martyrs and deal with the first-hand memories in these narratives that are less heard, and the human aspect of these people was also very important in these narratives.

In response to the question, Mehran, considering his effective role in this project, what did he see as the biggest challenge of “Names”? He said: The biggest challenge for me was that it was decided that each of these episodes will have its own graphics and we will use a separate team for each of the episodes.

What was Mirkarimi's concern about making

He added: The positive part of this issue was that visually, each of them had their own charm in terms of color, light, and texture, which was remarkable. But the difficulty for me as a technical assistant was that I had to interact with a large number of people in the technical department, and this multiplicity of teams made it difficult for me to communicate. Each time had different merits and demerits and knowing and achieving them and how to interact created ups and downs.

The director of “Cold-Blooded Path” continued this discussion and added: One of our biggest difficulties and challenges was the timing issue, which we had to come up with. In addition, one of the difficulties of working as a team is getting equal output from all people, which makes the work difficult, and this was one of our biggest concerns; But the energy of this project was so good that it was successfully completed.

He also said about the reason for his presence as the editor of this work: We did part of the composite work ourselves and left the other part to other groups. But in the editing department, we needed more and more serious interaction with the director, that’s why I did the editing myself so that we could have more communication with Mr. Mirkarimi at the montage table. Because each of these parts was seen as an independent film with its own challenges and milestones, which we had to spend a lot of time on.

“Shahid Chamran” is the most challenging episode

In response to the question, which is the most challenging episode of this motion comic, he added: The most challenging episode was “Shaheed Chamran”, because it was our first episode, and at that time, such an incident had not happened in the discussion of motion comics, and the volume of designs and quality They made the work very challenging. It happened many times that after finishing the designs, I came to the conclusion that the result was not attractive enough and we had to redo a new design, which was one of our most important challenges during the work process.

This animation director answered the question, did you have a relationship with the martyrs’ family to write the script for “Names” or not? He stated: Yes, in the script section, we had teams of researchers who did research work before writing, and in this regard, various meetings were held with some families and close members of these martyrs. For example, we had meetings with Shahid Doran’s wife and son, and after the film was made, a special screening was held in Shiraz for the martyrs’ family, which was well received, and Shahid Doran’s family was also happy that their words were used in the production of the film. They welcomed.

Mehran said about the airing time of this motion comic, which has been a long time since its creation: One of the important points that should not be overlooked in this series was the patient presence of the producer of the work, Mr. Mohammad Pirhadi, the producer of the work. Because “Names” was a new experience, the structural and working form of this style of project had not been experienced until now, and it was not like a movie or a series that could be finished and aired in a short time, and it was a project that had to be created moment by moment. Mr. Pirhadi’s follow-up and patience are among the things that should be taken into consideration.

Pointing out that it has been a while since this series was made, he said: “Names” could have been more interesting and popular if it had been aired at the time. When something is created that is different, in line with that, many other collections also try to move forward with this method; Because this feature was discovered in a collection and after that other teams use this feature. The fact that “Names” was not aired in the early years of its production does not have the same color and charm as it used to have, and if it had been aired in its time, other teams would have stepped in to pay for the motion comic, and this style would have been greatly improved and become more serious. But the fact that this work was finally exhibited for people and those who love the story of these heroes is very important.

In the end, he said: I would like to thank all those who were involved in this project and were present in this project to the best of their ability, and the various technical agents of “names” who made this project come to an end, and I wish them all the best. I succeed
