Which cars will be licensed to import?

According to Tejarat News, if cars are liberalized, which cars will get import licenses? The head of the Competition Council has announced that cars will be able to be imported.

Reza Shiva, chairman of the Competition Council, said the focus should be on importing cars that the general public can use. Because the entry of such cars can cause competition in the country’s car market.

According to the world of economics, the Competition Council’s view is not on importing a car that is accessible to most consumers and luxury cars that are more expensive and will have fewer consumers.

Thus, according to Shiva, if import liberalization is to take place, we should not wait for the arrival of luxury cars, as in the past, and what the chairman of the Competition Council for imports intends will be medium-priced and high-circulation cars.

Reza Shiva, however, went on to discuss the reasons for the approval of Article 4 in the parliament and stated that the members of parliament have entered into imports due to the current market conditions and the country’s automobile industries.

He further emphasized that the country’s car market is a monopoly market and in previous governments, the ministers who headed the Ministry of Silence or the senior managers of the Development Organization could not bring new players into this market with great efforts.

According to Tejarat News, with this trend, it seems that if the parliament approves the plan to import foreign cars, there is a possibility of importing foreign cars under two or three billion tomans.

Among the cars that are under three billion tomans in the market are cars such as Mirage, i10, i20, i30, several Mitsubishi models, Hyundai types such as Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Elantra, Renault types such as Talisman and jokes such as Nissan. .
