According to the book “Looking at the Performance of State Enterprises” prepared by the Office of State Enterprises of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, the first main and specialized state enterprise that was established in the sixties was the National Land and Housing Organization. The process of forming state-owned companies accelerated in the second half of the sixties, and 11 companies, including Imran Al-Sadagid, the National Post Company, the Audit Organization, and the Highway and Road Transportation Organization, were established in this 5-year period.
The rapid process of forming main and specialized mother state companies continued in the first half of the seventies and 14 companies were established in this time period. Export Development Bank was the first government company that was established in the seventies; The Organization for Collection and Sale of Property, the National Company for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products of Iran, the Health Insurance Organization and the Animal Affairs Support Company were among the most important government companies that were formed in the first half of this decade. Iran Mines and Mineral Industries Development and Modernization Organization (IMIDRO) was the most important main and specialized parent state company that was established in the second half of the seventies.
It is noted that the formation of the core of Esteghlal and Persepolis sports clubs dates back to 1324 and 1342, respectively, but these clubs were established as companies in 1369 and 1370.
In the 1980s, 14 main and specialized mother state companies were formed. Privatization Organization, Cooperative Development Bank and Subsidy Targeting Organization were among the most important government companies that were established in this decade. With the beginning of the nineties, the process of establishing main and specialized mother state companies slowed down in such a way that during this time period, only the Marine Industries Development Fund and Imam Khomeini Airport City Company (RA) were established, and the number of main and mother specialized state companies reached 77 companies. .
It should be mentioned that in recent years, the country’s transportation development fund and the national housing fund are being established.
