Who is to blame for road accidents in Iran? / Do automakers get involved in tank alloy diameters?

The quality and safety of domestic cars has long been criticized by many experts. In the last one year, Rahoor police have been involved in this incident and blame the high number of accidents in the country on the products of car manufacturers.
In this regard, Sardar Kamal Hadianfar, Rahoor Police Chief of the Disciplinary Command, in an interview with Hamshahri Yearbook, described the number of accidents in Iran as catastrophic: “Iranian cars cause more damage and injuries in accidents instead of protecting the occupants.”
He was particularly critical of the design of airbags, brakes and tanks for domestic cars, and accused automakers of changing platforms and manipulating alloy diameters.
A look at the statistics also confirms the catastrophic nature of accidents in Iran. As of March, 552 people have lost their lives in road accidents. In particular, the accident of Peugeot 405 and Persia in Nurabad, Lorestan, which caused the fire of two cars and the death of eight people, caused a lot of reactions on social networks.
But who is the main culprit of these accidents? Car fires in an accident may be blamed on automakers, but does that justify other institutions?
Hiding behind the failed carmaker
In this regard, an expert in the automotive industry told Tejarat News: “In terms of expertise, domestic automakers are failing and their products are not safe enough.” But these issues do not acquit other responsible institutions. In fact, other sectors are no less than carmakers, and they probably want to hide behind them by criticizing carmakers.
Farbod Zaveh stated: At the beginning, we should answer the question why there are so many collisions and accidents on the roads and streets of Iran? The weakness of the airbags and brakes of domestic cars is not hidden from anyone, but motorcycles, which have a lot of casualties in accidents, are also safe by closing the airbags?
According to him, today, before we suffer from the low quality of cars, it is the driving culture that threatens the lives of citizens due to weak laws.
He continued: “Incidentally, Rahvar police thought that the installation of airbags and ABS brakes on cars would reduce the number of traffic accidents.”
Before the design of the airbag, the casualties of accidents in the world were not the size of Iran
Zaveh explained: It is now more than 120 years since the industrialization of the automobile industry, but the life of making airbags does not reach 40 years. The fact is that before the use of airbags, the number of casualties in accidents in the world was not as high as in Iran.
Securing the market by importing used cars
The market expert explained how to secure cars: This requires prerequisites that can not be implemented in the platforms of domestic automakers. Perhaps importing used and second-hand cars that are commensurate with people’s purchasing power will make market products somewhat safer.
“What have airbag critics done to improve driving training?” He asked. Obviously, when the criterion for obtaining a certificate is just a simple double park, the increase in the number of accidents is no longer surprising.
He added: In Iran, trucks are loaded into vans and transported from one city to another. The image below is my personal consideration at the entrance of one of the cities during these Eid days. How has the traffic police dealt with this type of violation? No matter how much the carmakers fail, such scenes are no longer relevant to them.
Thin sheets are more expensive!
Zaveh also explained about the automakers’ use of tank alloy diameters: “If the alloy sheet becomes thinner, it will be more expensive for the automaker.” Because thinning these sheets requires more process and cost. So it is unlikely that they will do so.
