Why didn’t Fakhimzadeh repeat “Sleep and Wake Up”?

According to a Fars Radio and Television correspondent, Leila was the guest of the nostalgic “serialist” section on the evening of the 22nd of October with the performance of Pedram Karimi. The part dedicated to the series “Sleep and Awake” directed by Mehdi Fakhimzadeh. This police series in the fall and winter of 2002 aired on the First Channel of Sima and was welcomed by the audience.

Barkhordari, who played the role of “Kobra” in the series “Sleep and Awake”, said about the reason for the popularity of this series at the time of its broadcast and the continuation of this longevity after about 20 years: Strong depends. In my opinion, a good script guarantees 70% success for a work, and the remaining 30% is related to the director, production team, behind-the-scenes agents, decoupage, and so on. Mr. Fakhimzadeh’s meticulous and sharp vision led “Sleep and Wake Up” to have a strong script and an exciting story, in which the performance of the police was well introduced; People also connected with it and the so-called flowers. As a result, “Sleep and Wake Up” became a streaming series that changed the course of police serials on our television.

He also talked about how to enter the world of acting: During high school, Ms. Zahra Saeedi, who is a film and television actress, was our English teacher. I was more of a writer at the time, and I was thinking of becoming a writer myself in the future. With the help of Ms. Saeedi, we turned one of the same writings into a play and it was performed at school, and my play in that play was noticed by friends and relatives, and this sparked me to pursue acting.

Barkhordari added: “After that, I worked in student theaters and as a student until I took a test to appear in the series” Province of Love “by Mr. Fakhimzadeh and he was accepted.” I remember that Mr. Hossein Qanat, Mr. Fakhimzadeh’s assistant, tested me and I happened to play parts of “Antigone”. Of course, Velayat-e-Eshgh was not my first experience of going in front of the camera. Simultaneously with my theatrical work, I also played one or two small roles in series such as Javani (Saeed Soltani), Hamsfar (Qassem Jafari) and Doran Sarkashi (Kamal Tabrizi), which were supporting roles. Of course, I played the role of an addicted woman in “The Age of Rebellion”, which, although short, I like very much.

The actor said: In addition to student theaters, I participated in the courses of the Young Cinema Association and made short films. After Eshgh, I participated in Mr. Fakhimzadeh’s acting classes as a student. Students use their own classrooms. Many of the young actors who attended Mr. Fakhimzadeh’s work during these years were his students. It was in those classes that I was offered to appear in the series “Sleep and Wake Up”, which was a real honor for me. Of course, at the same time, they said that the role is very difficult, it is difficult and you may be annoyed.

He added: “Honestly, I did not think at all about the difficulty of this role and the strange make-up that completely confuses my face, and the only thing I thought about was how to play this role in the best way possible as a Be a good actor.

Barkhordari said: At first, a different make-up and costume was defined for the character of “Kobra”, and several shooting sessions were done with the same make-up. But Mr. Fakhimzadeh felt that what he had intended did not happen and that Grimm should change. They offered suggestions to Farzin Fardin, the face of the series. My eyebrows widened and I put a piece under my upper lip, my teeth got darker and … so that when I stood in front of the mirror after makeup, I no longer knew myself.

He added: Regarding the sound, Mr. Fakhimzadeh believed that I should use my own voice with a slight change and there is no need to make a sound. We recorded until we finally reached the voice of Cobra.
The actor stated: The first sequence that I had in “Sleep and Wake Up” was related to the presence of “Asghar Kapak” in the park and the children’s encounter with him, which we recorded in Taleghani Park.

I remember when I played this sequence and Mr. Fakhimzadeh confirmed it, I was so happy that I shouted for joy in the same park, because I felt that the role of cobra had dissolved in me and that I had achieved what Kragardan intended. When one piece dissolves in you as an actor, you go the other way.

He added: “Kobra” is still attractive and memorable for people, despite its difficulties. Everywhere people see me, the first thing they remind me of is this role and they say how good it was; I’m glad that happened. This is a great opportunity for an actor and I owe it to Mr. Fakhimzadeh above all because giving this role to a young and novice actor like me was a risk.

Barkhordari also said about why Mehdi Fakhimzadeh’s later police works such as “Third Sense” and “Building 85” were not considered as much as sleeping and waking: “I must say about the whole series that everything is a product of its own time conditions.” Of course, I do not look at it this way, and for example, I believe that people also liked the “third sense”. “Sleep and Wake” was the beginning of this path and because it had an interesting and quality story, it raised the level of expectations.

He added: “The role of” Kobra “was also a technical and very special role that was different from the other characters that I worked on in Mr. Fakhimzadeh’s subsequent series.” However, different factors must go hand in hand to get a so-called work, the audience to welcome it and make it last. Part of these factors depends on the production team and the text, and another part depends on external factors.

“Serialist”, produced by Mohammad Barikani and Mojtaba Faraji and performed by Pedram Karimi, is a work of the History, Culture and Art Group of Channel One, which airs every Thursday at 11:15 PM on Channel One.
