Widespread coverage of the missile attack on Mossad spy centers in the Western media

According to IRNA, the Associated Press quoted Iraqi security officials as saying: “12 missiles hit the city of Erbil in northern Iraq and near the US consulate.”

Iraqi and US officials have made conflicting statements about the attacks and the severity of the damage.

Iraqi security officials said there had been no immediate reports of casualties in the attack, but that the attacks took place shortly after midnight and caused extensive property damage. These Iraqi security officials also requested that their names not be revealed in accordance with the rules.

A US official said no US government facilities had been damaged and that there was no indication that the new US consulate in Iraq was targeted.

An Iraqi official in Baghdad first said that several missiles had hit the US consulate and that the building had been targeted, the Associated Press reported in a report in the Daily Mail and other foreign media. Then Lauk Ghaffari, head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Foreign Media Bureau, said no rockets had hit the building and that the surrounding area had been hit by rockets.

A U.S. defense official said the exact number of missiles fired and the exact location of their landings were not yet known. None of the US officials were allowed to comment on the attack, and interviewed the Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The Associated Press wrote: “Iraqi officials can not determine the type of missiles fired.

Another US official said the Iraqi government and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government were investigating the attack.

The Associated Press claims that the attack came as “nuclear talks in Vienna” stalled following Russia’s demands for sanctions, which targeted the country over its attack on Ukraine.

The media added: “The senior US command in the Middle East has repeatedly warned of increasing attacks by Iranian militants and allies in Iraq and Syria.”

Reports indicate that investigations and assessments of the extent of the damage and possible casualties of these attacks are ongoing and a detailed and final report has not yet been announced.

According to the Iraqi Sabrin News website, the available videos and images show the extreme intensity of the explosions caused by the missiles.

The CNN website has confirmed that 12 rockets hit Erbil this morning.

The attacks took place shortly after 1 a.m. local time on Sunday, the media quoted local officials as saying.

A video circulated on social media shows the rockets hitting Erbil, which was also tweeted by Kurdistan 24 TV.

The Associated Press wrote about the broadcast of these images on Kurdistan 24 TV: The satellite channel of Kurdistan 24, which is located near the US Consulate in Erbil, broadcast images from the network’s studio shortly after the attack, which showed broken glass and debris. Spilled on the floor of the studio of this news network.

“Ballistic missiles hit the Iraqi Kurdish capital; “No casualties have been reported.”

“No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack and no further details are available,” Reuters reported, citing US media outlets such as CNBC.

Reuters added that Iraqi Kurdish officials did not immediately indicate where the missiles hit. A spokesman for regional officials said there had been no flight delays at Erbil airport.

Erbil residents posted videos in cyberspace showing several large explosions, and some said the blasts shook their homes.

Reuters could not independently verify the videos.

The British newspaper The Guardian also confirmed that twelve rockets hit Erbil and wrote: “Iraq has been in constant instability since the defeat of ISIS in 2007.” Iraqi political parties, which also have armed branches, are engaged in intensive talks on forming a government after the October elections.

The Guardian also reported that Iraqi and US officials had provided conflicting accounts of the possible damage.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the missiles struck near the US consulate in Erbil, Iraq, and wrote that the attack, which did not harm any US personnel, was carried out at the same time as negotiations with Iran to reach a nuclear deal.
